Sonic Heroes Remake in the Works for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 – Rumor

Sega seems to be expanding its Sonic universe, with rumors swirling about a remake of the 2004 classic Sonic Heroes, following the recent announcements of Sonic Colors: Ultimate and the eagerly anticipated Sonic X Shadow Generations. Sources from Nintendo Universe indicate that this new project is being crafted using Unreal Engine technology, aiming for compatibility with the latest gaming platforms, including Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and a potential new version of the PC, alongside the speculated Nintendo Switch 2.

According to these reports, we could see this refreshed version of Sonic Heroes hitting the shelves by 2025, potentially aligning with the launch of Nintendo's upcoming console iteration. This scoop was further affirmed by Midori, a known leaker on Twitter, who also mentioned, disappointingly for some fans, that there are no current plans to remake the beloved Sonic Adventure series.

Sonic Heroes originally graced the PS2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and PC, offering a unique gameplay experience where players could manage teams of characters. Each team was comprised of characters with distinct abilities - Speed, Flight, and Power, enabling them to navigate various challenges and obstacles throughout the levels. Teams such as Team Sonic, composed of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails, and Team Shadow, consisting of Shadow, Rouge, and E-123 Omega, were among the playable options.

Despite its mixed reception from critics at the time of its release, Sonic Heroes enjoyed considerable commercial success, selling around 3.41 million units by March 2007. With the potential of a remake on the horizon, fans may have to wait until next year for an official confirmation from Sega.
